REPÚBLICA DOMINICANA – Al menos 9 personas murieron y 15 resultaron heridas en un accidente de tránsito ocurrido este miércoles en una carretera en el municipio de Bajos de Haina, a unas 15 millas de Santo Domingo, según el director de la Defensa Civil dominicana, Juan Salas.El siniestro ocurrió en la mañana local en un tramo de la carretera Sánchez, perteneciente al sector Quita Sueño, en Bajos de Haina, cuando un autobús de pasajeros y un camión articulado chocaron de frente y luego se precipitaron a una cañada, cayendo el camión encima del autobús.Fuentes del servicio de emergencias del 911 indicaron que se trata de cifras preliminares, puesto que en el autobús habría quedado atrapado un número indeterminado de viajeros. DENVER (KDVR) — An inmate who walked out of a Jefferson County prison camp in early September has been arrested in New Mexico. Edward Verdugo was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service, the agency said.Verdugo was discovered missing on Sept. 5 from a minimum security prison camp next to the Federal Correctional Institution Englewood. A miniature horse is galloping toward recovery after being found abandoned near the western edge of the Florida Everglades.The South Florida Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals responded to a distress call from the Miami-Dade Agricultural Police on Wednesday morning and rescued the abandoned horse, found suffering from a suspected broken ankle.“Because the leg is broken, the hood is pointing up [in the wrong direction],” said Laurie Waggoner, Director of Rescue Operations for South Florida SPCA.The chestnut horse, named Tiny Tim by the rescuers, was discovered with a duct-taped ankle causing open wounds.Rescuers believe the ankle was fractured months ago.“For several months, this little mini had to have been in complete agony.
